U.S. Junior Men and Women Reach World Junior Teams Semifinals

The U.S. Junior Men’s and Women’s Teams are on the brink of making history as both teams ensured a podium finish by reaching the semifinals of the WSF World Junior Team Squash Championships Sunday, July 21, at the Houston Squash Club.

Both the Men’s and Women’s teams comfortably progressed through the pool stages to the knock out rounds with undefeated records as the path to the World Junior Teams finals became clear.

The U.S. men entered the top half of the sixteen team 1-16 draw as the seven seeds and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over 9/12 seeds Japan on Saturday. The men’s team then recorded a historic quarterfinal victory over 13/16 seeds South Africa Sunday with wins courtesy of Zane Patel and Rishi Srivastava to send Team USA into just its second World Junior Men’s Team semifinal ever.

The U.S. men now have the opportunity to reach Team USA’s first ever World Junior Men’s Team final with a semifinal match up against five seeds South Korea Monday evening at 6:30pm ET.

The U.S. women, the two seeds, will aim to reach the program’s fourth World Junior Women’s Team final Monday afternoon against three seeds Malaysia. The U.S. women, led by Caroline Fouts and Riya Navani, have been in commanding form all tournament and opened up their knock out stages with a 3-0 win over seven seeds England. The women will contest their semifinal first at 4pm ET.
