Team USA’s Olivia Weaver will make her first appearance of the 2024-2025 PSA Squash season as the Paris Open five seed, while Timmy Brownell is set to face world No. 1 Ali Farag in the first round Sunday, September 15.

The Paris Open, a PSA Platinum draw, marks the second major event of the season as four Americans aim to progress through the draw. First round matches will be split between Squash Montmartre and Squash Horizon and the Glass Court at Cirque d’Hiver-Bouglione.

After withdrawing from the season-opening Egyptian Open out of injury precaution, world No. 5 Weaver will start her season on Sunday at Squash Horizon in Paris against Egpyt’s Mariam Metwally. A first round win would see the American progress to the glass court at the picturesque Cirque d’Hiver-Bouglione on Monday, September 16.

World no. 11 Amanda Sobhy made her comeback after an eight month injury hiatus with a first round victory at the Egyptian Open two weeks ago before bowing out against the world champion Nouran Gohar in the second round. The thirty-one-year-old will aim to build on that performance in France where she opens her tournament against Japan’s world No. 14 Satomi Watanabe at Squash Horizon.

World No. 15 Sabrina Sobhy and world No. 33 Timmy Brownell will both face difficult first round match ups against top-three-ranked opponents. After facing world No. 1 Nour El Sherbini in the Egyptian Open first round, Sobhy faces another difficult first round match on the glass court Sunday against world No. 3 Hania El Hammamy. Brownell, who lost a close five-game first round match in Egypt, will take on Egypt’s world No. 1 Ali Farag on the glass court in their first career match up.
