Weaver Advances to PSA World Championships Quarterfinals

Team USA’s Olivia Weaver is through to the last eight at the $1.3 million PSA World Championships presented by the Walter Family after a third round win over Egypt’s world No. 12 Salma Hany Tuesday, May 13, at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness in Chicago.

The American world No. 4 is set for her second career appearance in the World Championships quarterfinals and will bid to reach her second consecutive semifinal against Malaysia’s world No. 9 Sivasangari Subramaniam.

Weaver prevailed in the third round against Hany to record her second win over the Egyptian in 2025 with a scoreline of 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 11-4 in forty-seven minutes.

“It was nip and tuck – in that first game we were feeling each other,” Weaver said. “We just played in Australia but I feel that everyone on Tour is adding things to their game so it feels like you’re playing a new opponent. Salma has been playing great squash recently and we prepared well, I knew I had to play well today to win. She took a huge lead in the second but I proud how I fought back. I really wanted to find my targets on this court–if you’re leaving it in the middle it’s an extremely punishing court. I’m very happy to get past Salma and into the next round.”

Weaver will face Subramanium Thursday evening at 6:30pm local time, 7:30pm ET. The Cornell graduate reached the quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over Team USA’s Amanda Sobhy in the third round.
