Sedky Earns Largest Career PSA Title in Saskatchewan

Reeham Sedky

Team USA’s Reeham Sedky earned the largest PSA Word Tour title of her career–the $18,000 Queen City Open–March 17, at Evolution Fitness in Regina, Canada.

The Canadian event culminated in an All-American final after U.S. college seniors, Harvard’s Sabrina Sobhy and Penn’s Reeham Sedky, progressed their way through the draw, upsetting three of the top four seeds along the way.

Sobhy, world No. 85 and 2014 U.S. women’s champion, entered the tournament unseeded, and upset the tournament’s top seed, world No. 20 Emily Whitlock, in a four-game semifinal. Sobhy’s run would come to an end in the final against Sedky, the 2018 U.S. women’s championship finalist and 2018 college individual champion.

Sedky pulled off a perfect tournament, clinching the title without dropping a game, including a semifinal upset over two seed and home favorite, world No. 32 Samantha Cornett, and defeating Sobhy in the final 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 in thirty six-minutes.

The twenty-one-year-old from Seattle adds the Queen City Open title to her first career PSA Title–the $10,000 Richmond Open in 2018.

Both players will now vie for the 2019 U.S. Women’s Championship title, March 28-31, in Washington, DC.
