Interior demolition and groundbreaking at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center is officially underway. The Specter Center, planned to open in fall 2020, will be located in the historic Amory building just blocks from 30th St Station in Philadelphia. Through the first several weeks, the basement is now down to soil-level and the main floor is being fully cleared of its prior infrastructure to make way for what will be the world’s best squash experience.
The Specter Center will feature eighteen singles courts and two doubles courts and will model broad community engagement and access while being a home for squash in the U.S. It will serve as US Squash’s national headquarters, house a Learning & Innovation Center run in collaboration with official community partner SquashSmarts, the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame, a Coaching Excellence Center and state-of-the-art high performance athlete development resources in coordination with Drexel University’s Division 1 athletic program.
