Eight Americans to Contest Windy City Open

Eight members of Team USA are set to compete in the $500,000 Windy City Open presented by the Walter Family with first round play set to begin Wednesday, February 23, at the University Club of Chicago.

Three Americans will feature on the all glass show court in the University Club’s picturesque Cathedral Hall on the opening day of play, including Shahjahan Khan, Haley Mendez and men’s wild card Andrew Douglas.

Khan, world No. 32, will be the first on court at 12:45pm local time, 1:45pm ET, in search of his first PSA win against Hong Kong’s Yip Tsz Fung.

World No. 40 and new Chicago resident Haley Mendez will follow on at 2pm local time in search of her first career Windy City Open win against Egypt’s world No. 47 Sana Ibrahim.

Days after competing in the National Collegiate Men’s Team Championships for Penn, Andrew Douglas will compete on the PSA stage as the men’s wild card with a first-round match against England’s George Parker at 2:45pm local time.

World No. 26 Sabrina Sobhy closes out the U.S. glass court action Wednesday night against Australian wild card Sarah Cardwell at 7pm local time.

World No. 34 Todd Harrity will be the sole American in action on the three side courts Wednesday, as he faces former college rival Ramit Tandon at 2:45pm local time.

Team USA’s seeded players, Amanda Sobhy (4), Olivia Blatchford Clyne (9/16) and Olivia Fiechter (9/16), all join the second round action following first round byes on Thursday, February 24.
