The top eight seeds–including Team USA’s Amanda Sobhy and Olivia Fiechter will contest the inaugural PSA Gold Southwestern Women’s Open Quarterfinals Friday, September 9, at the Houston Squash Club.

The $110,000 draw—the largest PSA Event ever held in Texas and first major women’s event of the season—attracted five of the world’s top ten women with world No. 2 Noran Gohar and world No. 4 Sobhy leading the draw as the top two seeds.

The first quarterfinal Friday night will feature Gohar against Fiechter, the six seed, at 5pm local time, 6pm ET. Fiechter overcame U.S. teammate Sabrina Sobhy in a difficult second round encounter. Sobhy, world No. 20, had defeated Fiechter in their last four PSA, but Fiechter managed to notch her first win over her training partner in three games.

Amanda Sobhy opened up her season with a clinical 3-0 win over Egypt’s Hana Ramadan, and will face another Egyptian in the form of world No. 9 and five seed Salma Hany at 8pm local time.
