Fiechter Targets Carol Weymuller Title as Top Seed

Team USA’s Olivia Fiechter is through to the semifinals of the Carol Weymuller Open as the American targets what could be her largest career title to date at the Heights Casino in Brooklyn.

Fiechter, world No. 10, leads the draw as the top seed and is one of only two seeds remaining in the semifinals after a surprising slate of results.

Only three seeds advanced to the quarterfinals with a number of upsets including Japan’s Satomi Watanabe taking out Team USA’s four seed and world No. 15 Sabrina Sobhy in the second round.

Fiechter opened up her tournament with a 3-0 win over Egypt’s Zeina Mickawy and booked her spot in the semifinals with a 3-1 win against Malaysia’s Aifa Azman. Fiechter will face Egypt’s world No. 34 Yathreb Adel Saturday afternoon at 5:30pm ET.
