American Quartet Advances to PSA World Championship Second Round in Chicago

Team USA’s four top sixteen-ranked women–Amanda Sobhy, Olivia Fiechter, Olivia Blatchford Clyne and Sabrina Sobhy–advanced to the second round of the 2022-2023 PSA World Championships following first round play, May 3-4, at the University Club of Chicago.

All four seeded women progressed to the second round without dropping a game at the University Club, as the all glass court showcased in the picturesque Union Station prepares to host matches from the second round onward, May 5-11. Tickets are available on worldsquashchamps.com/tickets.

Amanda Sobhy, world no. 5, and Olivia Blatchford Clyne, world No. 13, will both be featured on the glass court on Friday night. Sobhy will face Canada’s world No. 18 Hollie Naughton at 5:30pm CT, while Blatchford Clyne will go up against Wild Card Amina Orfi at 8pm.

World No. 16 Sabrina Sobhy advanced to the third round early Friday afternoon with a three-game win over Egypt’s Hana Ramadan. Sobhy moves to the glass court for the third round where she will play six seed Nour El Tayeb Saturday at 2pm local time.

Seven of the eleven Americans in action lost out against top seeds and higher-ranked opponents in the first round including wild cards Andrew Douglas and Caroline Fouts, Marina Stefanoni, Todd Harrity, Timmy Brownell, Shahjahan Khan and Faraz Khan.
