Marina Stefanoni Claims Costa Rica Open Title; Reaches World’s Top Fifty

Team USA’s Marina Stefanoni earned her second career 15K PSA title at the Costa Rica Open, November 17, sending the twenty-one-year-old into the world’s top fifty ranked players for the first time in her career.

Stefanoni is in the midst of her first season as a full-time professional following her graduation from Harvard last spring, and has notched her first title of 2024 to match the biggest title summit of her career so far.

The twenty-one-year-old entered the $15,000 PSA Challenger draw as the tournament’s two seed and progressed to the final dropping just one game along the way.

Stefanoni met French top seed and Penn graduate Marie Stephan in the final in what was their third career match up on the PSA tour. The American maintained her unbeaten record against the world No. 47 with a decisive final win 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 in twenty-three minutes.

Stefanoni entered the Costa Rica Open with what was then a career-high ranking of world No. 50. Following her Central American title run, Stefanoni jumped six places in the ranking to a new high of world No. 44.

Stefanoni matches her career high of a $15k title, adding to her St. James Open title in December 2023.
