Team USA Enter World Junior Teams Competition as Top Three Seeds

The 2025 World Junior Team Championships is underway with Team USA entering the World Junior Men’s Team Championship and the World Junior Women’s Team Championship as the two and three seeds, respectively, July 27-August 1, at the Black Ball Sporting Club in New Cairo, Egypt.

The U.S. Men enter Group B as the two seeds and will face Poland and New Zealand, July 27-28. The U.S. Women enter Group C as the three seeds and will take on Canada, Germany and Sourth Africa, July 27-29. Group standings will determine the ensuing Team playoff stages.

The 2025 World Junior Individual Championships concluded with Egypt’s Mohamed Zakaria and Amina Orfi retaining their titles, while Team USA celebrated a successful performance with eight of nine players fulfilling or exceeding their seedings.

Christian Capella, a 5/8 seed, ended his individual junior squash career on a high note by reaching the World Juniors quarterfinals, losing out against the top seed and eventual world champion Mohamed Zakaria.

Five other Americans reached the round of sixteen before losing against higher seeded opposition, including unseeded Ahmed Haq, 9/16 seed Jack Elriani, 9/16 Alexandra Jaffe, 9/16 seed Samantha Jaffe and 9/16 seed Charlotte Pastel.

Fifteen-year-old Charlotte Sze and Hart Robertson both marked their World Juniors debuts by fulfilling her 17/32 seed with a second round wins before exiting the main draw against higher seeds. Sze would go on to record five wins to win the 17/32 consolation playoff draw and secure a seventeenth place finish. Alex Dartnell, a 5/8 seed, recorded two 3-0 wins before exiting the main draw, while Oscar Okonkwo, a 17/32 seed, recorded two main draw wins before falling against a 5/8 seed.
