Laila Sedky: Ahead of the 2025-26 Season

After a successful junior squash career, Laila Sedky took time off from the game to pursue her college studies at the University of Washington. Laila’s professional squash ambitions were jump started by earning the 2025 Tournament of Champions wild card playoff. Laila won two PSA Challenger titles in the second half of the season to end June 2025 by reaching the world’s top 100. What are your goals going into this season?
This season, my primary goals are to continue climbing the world rankings, consistently reach the later rounds of PSA tournaments, and refine specific areas of my game both physically and mentally. I’m also focused on maintaining a strong training rhythm throughout the season to ensure peak performance during key events. This season, I hope to reach the Top 50 and represent Team USA in more events.

What tournaments are you looking forward to most?
I’m really looking forward to competing in some of the major PSA events, especially if I can get another wildcard to the Tournament of Champions like last season. Those tournaments always have such an electric atmosphere and bring out the best in everyone. I’m also excited for any team-based events where I can represent Team USA—there’s something really special about playing for your country, especially after getting to experience the Pan American Games.

This will be your first season as an official member of Team USA. What are you most excited about this season and how does it feel to be in the Top 100?
It’s an incredible honor to officially represent Team USA this season. Being part of the national team has always been a dream, and I’m proud to be among such a talented group of athletes. Breaking into the Top 100 was a major milestone for me, and it’s given me even more motivation to keep pushing. I know the competition only gets tougher from here, but I’m ready for the challenge.

Anything else you would like to add about this upcoming season?

I’m just really grateful for the support I’ve received from my coaches, family and teammates. This season is about building on that foundation, staying healthy and enjoying the process. I’m looking forward to testing myself against the best and continuing to grow on and off the court.
