Photos by Kasey Shamis

Timmy Brownell has established himself as the top American men’s professional in recent years as evidenced by his world ranking and back-to-back U.S. national titles. Brownell broke into the world’s top 30 for the first time in June 2024, and will be aiming to push into the top thirty or twenty-five this year. Brownell will need to beat top players in big events consistently this season to make that happen.

Age: 28
Pre-season Ranking: 35

What are your goals going into this season?

Squash for me has always been about level and not the immediate results. I’ve pushed my level higher each year I’ve been on tour thanks to the incredible staff we have had at the Specter Center, and I’m looking forward to continuing that trend.

What tournaments are you looking forward to most?

I’m looking forward to playing big matches on US soil and representing my country well, particularly at the U.S. Open in October where several Americans get to showcase their best stuff in front of a home crowd.

Is there anything you’re changing or approaching differently this season?

There’s always change happening as a pro player, the bar goes up every year and we must go with it!! I keep showing up, working hard and trusting the team I’ve got.

Will finishing last season on a high with a national title help you going into this season?
It can’t hurt! Winning that title was a special moment for me, but I’ll let you guys know if that helps me in the fifth game on a backcourt in Egypt this season
