Spizzirri Wins Back-to-Back PSA Challenger Titles

Team USA’s Nick Spizzirri won back-to-back PSA Challenger titles in as many weeks, following up his $6,000 SPAC Men’s Open title in Brazil last weekend with the $6,000 Wakefield PSA title October 12, at the Wakefield School in Virginia.

Spizzirri entered the draw as the four seed and progressed to the final with a four-game semifinal win over Trinity star Joachim Chuah. The American won a second straight final against Colombian opposition, this time against unseeded nineteen-year-old Juan Irisarri 11-5, 13-11, 9-11, 11-6.

Spizzirri’s win in Brazil sent him up seventeen positions in the world rankings to world No. 128, and the American will continue to climb the rankings on the heels of his Wakefield win.
