Team USA’s Sabrina Sobhy has put an injury-laden 2024-2025 season behind her with a strong first half to the 2025-2026 season, fighting her way back up the rankings to world No. 36 this month.
The American, who has been ranked as high as world No. 13 two year ago, entered the season in September outside of the world’s top 100 with a pinned ranking of world No. 20 after returning from a wrist injury that derailed her 2024-2025 season.
Sobhy started the season leveraging her pinned ranking to record positive results early on and start her ascent bank up the rankings. In September, Sobhy reached the London Open second round and NASH Cup final, which she followed up with two major second round appearances at the Silicon Valley Open and U.S. Open in October.
Sobhy proved that she is back at the top of her game in November when she captured the largest PSA title of her career at the St. James Open.
Sobhy completed the first half of her season with her first career PSA win over her older sister and world No.11, Amanda, in the Hong Kong Open first round. She then defeated Egypt’s Kenzy Ayman in the round of sixteen to reach her first Platinum quarterfinal since February 2024, where she lost out against eventual champion Nour El Sherbini. Her Hong Kong performance propelled her up to world No. 36 this month.
Sobhy will aim to start her 2026 on a positive note in Cleveland at the PSA Silver Squash in the Land, January 13-18.
