
Brendan Tagliarini (BU17) and Azlan Khan (BU11) earned bronze medals on final day of the British Junior Open, while Team USA finished with thirty-nine of fifty-seven players recording top twenty finishes, January 2-6, in Birmingham.
The 2026 BJO marked Team USA’s thirteenth annual trip to England as a team. The BJO is considered to be akin to the World Junior Championships and celebrated its 100th edition this year with the world’s top players competing in all age divisions from U11 to U19, while the World Juniors fields just the U19 division.
The 2026 U.S. squad continued the positive momentum set in previous years with a an impressive collective finish of thirty-nine players in the world’s top twenty, fifteen players in the top ten, six players in the top five and Tagliarini and Khan capping off the tournament with bronze medals.
“The BJO continues show our young American players that they belong with the world’s top players and can compete with the best of them,” said Karim Ibrahim, US Squash Director of Junior National Teams. “Our players represented Team USA with integrity and composure, and will grow as players and people thanks to this tremendous experience.”
Last year, Team USA produced a program record four podium finishes, six semifinalists, eighteen quarterfinalists and one champion. Three years ago, Team USA produced two champions in what was a historic first for the junior national team program.
