
Team USA’s Sabrina Sobhy was four points away from winning what would have been her third PSA title of the season when the American suffered an Achilles rupture in the Bermuda Open final, Saturday April 18.
The twenty-nine-year-old had been in top form all tournament, reaching the final without dropping a game. The world No. 18 earned a 2-0 lead in the final against England’s world No. 29 Lucy Turmel. Up 7-6 in the third game, Sobhy collapsed while attempting to retrieve a drop shot in the front corner.
After receiving immediate medical attention, Sobhy was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where the devastating injury was confirmed. The unfortunate injury comes at the end of what has been a successful comeback season for Sobhy. After missing majority of the 2024-2025 due to a wrist injury, Sobhy returned to the pro tour this season reinvigorated and playing some of the best squash of her career. Sobhy climbed back up the world rankings, winning two titles and breaking back into the world’s top twenty.
