The U.S. Junior Men’s team will face defending champions Egypt in the World Junior Team Squash Championships final for a second consecutive year after a 2-0 semifinal win over India, while the U.S. Junior Women will bring home bronze medals for a second straight year after bowing out in the semifinals against ten-time defending champions Egypt Thursday, July 30, at White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada.

The Junior Men’s semifinals opened proceedings Thursday afternoon with the second-seeded U.S. men pitted against five seeds India, who upset three seeds England in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
After playing a dead rubber match in the quarterfinals, U.S. No. 3 Brendan Tagliarini was first on court in the semifinals against India’s Gurveer Singh. Taliarini found himself 2-1 down, when he turned the match on its head to pull off a five-game comeback 11-7, 9-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-3 in fifty-eight minutes.
Yaseen Shalaby, who reached the World Juniors Individual quarterfinals, followed on court in the No. 1 match up against India’s Aryaveer Dewan. Shalaby maintained his perfect record in the team competition, sealing the team victory for the U.S. 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 in forty-seven minutes.
The U.S. men find themselves against two-time defending champions Egypt for the second year in a row in the program’s second World Junior Men’s Team final in history.
The U.S. Junior Women’s tournament came to an admirable end against ten-time defending champions Egypt in the semifinals. World No. 57 Ruqayya Salem and Barb Sameh led Egypt to the finals with 3-0 wins against Diya Yadav and Lily Bourell, respectively. The U.S. women will earn bronze medals for the second year in a row.
