U.S. Juniors Set to Take on World’s Best in Canada

Eight of the nation’s top juniors will represent Team USA against the world’s best during the WSF World Junior Squash Championships, July 20-31, at White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada.

The 2026 World Junior Individual Championships open up the tournament July 20-24, followed by the World Junior Team Championships July 25-31. The U.S. women and men will aim to match and improve on their silver and bronze medal team performances from 2025.

The U.S. Junior Women’s Team includes Lily Bourell (Westwood, MA), Ava Lin (Chicago, IL), Charlotte Sze (Wellesley, MA) and Diya Yadav (Delray Beach, FL). The U.S. Junior Men’s Team includes Aiden Chiang (Princeton, NJ), Lars Gertsen (Boca Raton, FL), Yaseen Shalaby (New York, NY) and Brendan Tagliarini (New Haven, CT). Jack Elriani (Ardmore, PA) was selected for the squad but is unable to compete due to illness.

The U.S. enters the Individual competition with a number of seeded players outside of the top eight. Shalaby and Sze both earned 9/12 seedings and Yadav joined them in the top sixteen with a 13/16 seed. Bourell, Chiang, Gertsen and Tagliarini all enter the draw as 17/24 seeds.

The team competition’s seeding and draws will be determined by the individuals performances. Following the conclusion of the World Juniors, a new U.S. squad will take to the courts at White Oaks to compete in the annual Battle of the Border between the U.S. and Canada.

“The World Juniors is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we’re so excited to support this group as they test themselves on the world’s biggest stage,” said Nick Taylor, the Ganek Family US Squash Head National Coach. “This squad has put in the hard work and dedication all season to earn their place in the team, and will no doubt challenge the top players and be a force to be reckoned with in the team competitions. Thank you to Squash Canada for not only hosting the World Juniors, but also hosting the Battle of the Border consecutively. These two events are pillars of our Player Development Pathway and we’re grateful to have them both in our backyard.”
