With two college team national titles under his belt over the last two years at UPenn, Nick Spizzirri is now set for his full-time professional debut this season. A top U.S. junior and college player, Spizzirri will need to make the most of his opportunities on the PSA Challenger Tour early on this season to increase his ranking and qualify for PSA World Tour events. Spizzirri kicked off his season in August by winning a team gold medal for Team USA at the Pan American Championships in Brazil.
Age: 23

What are your goals going into your first season as a full-time professional?
My goals for my first season are to find new ways to enjoy the process of being a pro squash player and make the most the opportunity to travel the world at a young age. I want to improve my physicality to help stay injury-free and feel positive about my strength and conditioning going into each tournament. Furthermore, I want to improve my mentality so I can stay more positive in the bigger moments when they arise.
What tournaments are you looking forward to most?
I love playing in team events, especially for Team USA so any chance I get I look forward to with determination and excitement.
I am very excited to play a 9k in Kelowna, Canada because I’ve heard the scenery is beautiful and I believe it is a big opportunity for me to start the season off with some good results.
How does competing in the Pan Ams help prepare you for the PSA season?
The Pan Ams are a great opportunity to test my physicality against the world’s best players. They helped me gauge new parts of my game that I can further improve going into my first full season as a touring professional. I love playing alongside some of my best friends on tour as teammates rather than opponents.
Anything else you would like to add about this upcoming season?
I’m looking forward to getting started and hopefully making some big strides in my first season.
