Shahjahan was born in Quetta, Pakistan, but grew up in Seattle, Washington. He represented Pakistan at the 2012 World Juniors and began his professional squash journey on the PSA tour as a junior player. He first broke into the world’s top 100 in 2015 and began to climb steadily, reaching the top 75 in 2019 and achieving a career-high world ranking of No. 63.
In recent years, Shahjahan has been based, in San Francisco Bay Area.He’s closely working with a dedicated coaching team that includes Yassin Farag, Gareth Webber, Sami Farag, and Booda, all of whom have played a significant role in his continued progress on the professional circuit.
Shahjahan made a major breakthrough during the 2021–2022 season, capturing two PSA titles and ending the season with a career-high world ranking of No. 30. He represented Team USA for the first time at the 2021 World Games, where he reached the quarterfinals.
He carried that momentum into the 2022–2023 season, delivering strong performances at major PSA events and rising to a new career-high world ranking of No. 25 in October 2022—becoming the first American to reach the top 25 since Julian Illingworth in 2012.
In 2023, Shahjahan won a bronze medal at the Pan American Championships and helped Team USA achieve a historic top-6 finish at the World Team Championships in New Zealand.
Most recently, in 2025, Shahjahan played a pivotal role in leading Team USA to its first-ever gold medal at the Pan American Team Championships held in Brazil—marking history in U.S. squash
