Sixteen-year-old Egyptian Nouran Gohar defeated Sabrina Sobhy—the last American in either Individual main draw—in the quarterfinals of the World Junior Women’s Individual Championship Wednesday at the Wanderers Club in Windhoek, Namibia.

Gohar, ranked twenty-nine in the world on the Women’s Squash Association World Tour and seeded second in the Junior Women’s Individual competition, held off U.S. National and Junior Champion Sobhy in three games 11-9, 11-4, 11-8 to reach Thursday’s semifinals.

Sobhy’s tournament is not over, however, as the seventeen-year-old prepares to play England’s Georgina Kennedy in the 5/8 playoff semifinals Thursday.

In the Women’s 9/16 playoff, Reeham Sedky and Olivia Fiechter both defeated seeded opposition setting up an All-American semifinal Thursday.

After mixed success in the Men’s Plate and Special Plate, all six Americans were eliminated ending their Individual competitions. Derek Hsue, Mason Ripka, Max Reed, and Timmy Brownell now await their seeding for the World Junior Men’s Team Championship August 16-21.
