Team USA Juniors on the Podium in Canada and Scotland

Andrew Glaser (l) and Lucie Stefanoni in Canada

Top junior squash players from around the world have been competing on the international junior open squash circuit over the winter months. In addition to the U.S. Junior Open and British Junior Open, Team USA players have found individual success in both the Canadian and Scottish Junior Opens.

Eliza Schuster (l) and Lucie Stefanoni in Scotland.

Last month in Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario, Team USA’s Andrew Glaser and Lucie Stefanoni both captured titles. Stefanoni, who won the GU13 title in 2015, collected her second CJO title in the GU15 division this time, fulfilling her top seeding.

Glaser earned his first CJO title in the BU13 division as a 3/4 seed. Glaser upset Canadian top seed Jacob Lin in a five-game final. Glaser’s older sister, Katherine, recorded a fifth place finish in the GU17 division.

Emily Schuster

Last week in Scotland, Stefanoni would go on to claim a third junior open title that month. Once again the GU15 top seed, Stefanoni defeated Croatian two seed Franka Vidovic in a three game final. Elsewhere in the GU15 division, Abigail Schuster exceeded her 9/16 seeding with a fifth place finish.

In the GU17 division, the eldest Schuster sister, Emily, upset three seeded players on her way to a third place finish. In the GU11 division, Eliza Schuster upset Spain’s top seed Estela Martin Sanchez in three games to win the title.
