Stefanoni Reaches World Juniors Quarterfinals

Team USA’s Marina Stefanoni overcame Scotland’s Georgia Adderley to secure a quarterfinal spot in the World Junior Individual Championships Friday at the Indian Squash Center in Chennai.

Stefanoni, a 5/8 seed, defeated Adderley, a 9/12 seed, 11-8, 4-11, 11-9, 11-8 in thirty-nine minutes to seal her second consecutive appearance in the World Juniors quarterfinals.

Egyptian two seed Hania El Hammamy awaits Stefanoni in the quarterfinals after recording her second straight 3-0 victory. At seventeen years old, El Hammamy is already ranked No. 20 in the world professionally and is bidding to reach her second straight World Juniors final.

Saturday’s match will be Stefanoni’s debut on the glass court set up in a nearby shopping mall. The match will be streaming live on wsfworldjuniors.com/watch at 7:15pm local time, 9:15am EDT.
