For the first time since the inception of Pan American Squash in 1991, the United States will host both the fourteenth Pan American Junior Squash Championships at Drexel University and twenty-fourth Pan American Squash Championships at Trinity College over the next two months.

The Pan American Squash Federation encompasses squash-playing nations in the Caribbean, North, Central and South America. Both tournaments follow the same format with seven gold medals at stake in men’s and women’s individual championships, men’s, women’s and mixed doubles championships, and men’s and women’s team championships.

More than one hundred juniors from sixteen countries will first contest the annual Pan American Junior Championships, August 22-28, at Drexel’s Kline & Specter Squash Center in Philadelphia. Last year, Team USA sent its first delegation to the Pan American Junior Championships in more than a decade and brought home four medals from Argentina—including two golds.

More than one hundred of region’s top professional players from fifteen countries will contest the 2016 Pan American Championships, September 18-24, at Trinity’s Kellner Squash Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The Pan American Squash Championships, also referred to as the Pan American Federation Cup, are alternately contested for three years in between the quadrennial Pan American Games. Last year’s Pan American Games in Toronto saw Team USA top the medal table with six total medals.

“We are proud to welcome all our fellow countries in the region to the United States for a week-long celebration of squash, competition and friendship, ” said Andres Vargas, US Squash Senior Manager of International Relations. “Hosting the pinnacle squash event in the region for the first time is another great achievement for the U.S. on the world stage. We look forward to delivering a great event for players and spectators. Regardless where you are in the world, squash fans will be able to watch the live stream, follow live scores on Club Locker and each country’s social media channels in real-time during the events—an unthinkable achievement when this movement first started back in 1991 in Medellin, Colombia.”

Team USA squads will be announced leading up to each event.
