Team USA’s Amanda Sobhy returns to her Egyptian roots next week as the seven seed in the $100, 000 Al Ahram Open, reviving the iconic squash stage next to the pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

Sobhy, whose father is Egyptian, will take on a qualifier in the first round of the sixteen-player main draw Monday, September 19, at 12 pm local time, 6am ET.

Should the world No. 7 from Boston fulfill her seeding and advance to the quarterfinals, Sobhy is predicted to meet Egyptian world No. 5 and three seed Raneem El Welily.

The Al Ahram is Sobhy’s first tournament since reaching the final of the World Series Hong Kong Open last month, and first of a busy month ahead including the NetSuite Open in San Francisco and Delaware Investments U.S. Open in Philadelphia.

All matches including the men’s $100, 000 draw are streaming live on SquashTV.
