Gordon achieves a career high ranking

The Professional Squash Association’s May rankings revealed another big achievement for Chris Gordon, as he reached the highest ranking of his career to date, becoming world #44 through an impressive ten place jump.

Following a particularly successful season, including being crowned the 2013 U.S. National Champion, Gordon was thrilled with the news.

“It was really fantastic actually. I had a feeling I was going to go into the top fifty this month, so it was the first thing I checked this morning when I got up, ” said Gordon.

“I don’t normally go to the rankings straight away, but today I did because I had a feeling it would be good news.  I was pleasantly surprised to see how far up I had jumped.”

“Certainly getting into the top fifty is a milestone in any player’s career… but I’m trying to still be circumspect about it and just tell myself this is a stepping stone to bigger and better things and I can’t get too carried away with it.

“It was quite nice this morning having a seat on the sofa and after seeing it just having a couple minutes to reflect that I probably started the year out – I’m not sure what the ranking was when I started out in September – but now six or eight months later I find myself in the top fifty in the world.  It’s really, really nice.

“Getting in the top fifty has been a target of mine for so long and to be honest I was starting to get worried it wasn’t going to happen.  Now that I’ve done it, I’ve definitely got a bit of a new lease on life and it’s a really exciting time for me in my career because it feels like if I keep positive and keep working there’s a lot more I can achieve.”
