Team Connecticut Wins Inaugural Regional Team Championships

Team Connecticut won three of the four Regional Team titles—Overall, U13, and U15—in this weekend’s inaugural Regional Team Championships at Yale University’s Brady Squash Center, while Team New York captured the U17 title.

The overall leaderboard, draws, blogs, and more are available on the 2014 Regional Team Championships page.

Pictures from the tournament are available on the US Squash Smugmug page.

US Squash has been increasing its National Team support with the introduction of the Regional Squad training program, and the Regional Team Championships are viewed as a competition where the players vie for selection to represent Team USA in competing for their home region.

In the first iteration of the tournament, seven regions were represented including Connecticut, the Great Lakes, the Mid-Atlantic, New England, New York, Pennsylvania and the West Coast. The weekend took on a ‘camp style’ feel, with players staying with their teammates, eating together at the dining hall and being supervised by US Squash’s Regional Squad coaching team.
