The United States will face fifth-seeded Malaysia in the first round of the World Junior Men’s Team playoffs Monday after finishing second in Group A this weekend at the Wanderers Club in Windhoek, Namibia.

After defeating Argentina and Botswana in Group A action Saturday, the U.S. lost against top-seeded Egypt 2-1 in the final match of pool play Sunday ensuring a second place finish and berth in the playoffs. With a spot in the playoffs already secured, the U.S. rested top-ranked Derek Hsue against Egypt shifting Max Reed into the lineup. Timmy Brownell claimed the only U.S. victory of the match in three games.

The U.S., seeded twelfth, now take part in the 1-12 playoffs against Malaysia at 10am ET, Monday.
