The future of Team USA squash congregate at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut this weekend to compete in the second annual Regional Team Championships.

Building on the success of the inaugural event last year, the Regional Team Championships are the culminating event of the Regional Squads training program, which serves as an element of US Squash’s increased support for National Team player development.

The weekend will take on a ‘camp style’ feel, with players staying with their teammates, eating together at the dining hall and being supervised by US Squash’s Regional Squad coaching team.

The elite selection of 110 juniors in the U13, U15, and U17 age divisions comprise the six teams representing seven regions: Connecticut, Great Lakes & Mid-Atlantic, New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and West Coast.

Last year Team Connecticut nearly swept the field, claiming the Overall, U13, and U15 titles, while Team New York won the U17 title.

“This event culminates the efforts of our regional and national coaches, and is the first time we will have a Regional Team Championships take place alongside both a Junior and Senior National Squad as those team prepare for the World Junior Championships and Pan American Games respectively, ” said Rich Wade, Director of National Teams.

“Weekend’s like these provide an opportunity to clearly show the player pathway we are trying to carve out for aspiring Team USA players.”

Draws, Rosters, and more information are available on The Regional Team Championships page.
