Team USA’s Todd Harrity produced the highest-ranked upset of his career over world No. 42 Karim Ali Fathi Monday to reach the largest final of his career—the $25, 000 President Gold Cup International in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Harrity, world No. 61, reached Monday’s semifinals via two three-game victories over lower-ranked Pakistani players to set up a first career match up against Egypt’s two-seeded Fathi.

In forty-six minutes on the glass show court, Harrity squandered a two game lead, but prevailed in the decisive fifth game 11-8, 11-2, 6-11, 5-11, 11-4.

In Tuesday’s final, Pakistan’s three seed Nasir Iqbal ensured a home winner, defeating Harrity 11-9, 11-8, 11-5 in twenty-eight minutes.

Harrity returns stateside this weekend where the twenty-five-year-old Princeton graduate is slated for World Championship qualifying in Seattle.
