Team USA’s Amanda Sobhy is back to her highest career ranking of world No. 6 in the PSA Tour’s January 2017 rankings.

After achieving world No. 6 initially in October 2016, the Harvard graduate had dropped back to world No. 7 in November and December.

Sobhy, boosted by her semifinal appearance at the Delaware Investments U.S. Open, is ranked ahead of eight-time world champion Nicol David
for the first time in the twenty-three-old’s career as David dropped to world No. 7.

Fellow Elite Program Athlete Olivia Blatchford climbed up three spots from world No. 30 to No. 27—just one shy of her career high of No. 26.

Sobhy enters the first World Series event of the year, the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, as the seven seed, while Blatchford will attempt to join her in the main draw by way of qualifying.

On the men’s side, two-time U.S. champion Todd Harrity moved up two positions to world No. 51 following a run to the final of the $15, 000 Wasatch Advisors Salt Lake City Open. 2013 U.S. Champion Chris Gordon dropped three positions to world No. 58 and Chris Hanson moved back up to No. 87.

Harrity will be featured on the class court in Grand Central Terminal as the men’s Wild Card, while Gordon and Hanson enter the tournament in qualifying.
