Team USA Arrives in Paraguay for Pan American Junior Championships

Eight young men and women have arrived in Asuncion, Paraguay, to represent Team USA in the 2017 Pan American Junior Championships, June 24-30.

Like the adult Pan American Championships, the tournament includes singles, softball doubles and team competitions across seven days.

The individual competition opens the tournament, June 24-26, followed by doubles, June 26-28, and teams June 28-30.

National coach Christina Brownell leads the girls’ team including Sumrin Mudgil, Jane Pincus, Emily Rose and Riya Mital. The boys’ team is led by national coach Fabio Cechin, and includes Charles Culhane, Patrick McElroy, Edward (Ned) Mylod and Henry Martin.

“This is a great opportunity for the athletes to represent Team USA at a major games,” said Paul Assaiante, Ganek Family US Squash Head Coach. “Nothing can replicate the honor that comes with representing your country and we believe this group will be successful in Paraguay.”

Last summer, for the first time in US Squash history, US Squash hosted the event in Philadelphia and won three Gold medals, two Silver medals and a Bronze medal.
