US Squash has hired James Neiderer to serve as General Manager of the Arlen Specter US Squash Center. Neiderer will oversee all programming at the Specter Center including community engagement, championships and events, junior squash, professional development, and high-performance programs. Neiderer will support the design and construction of the facility in anticipation of its Fall 2020 opening.

Prior to US Squash, James spent twelve years leading the University of Virginia-owned Boar’s Head Sports Club, where he managed its robust squash and tennis programs in addition to a suite of programs, services and amenities for the resort, club and university. During this tenure, he oversaw the completion of the sixteen-court McArthur Squash Center, one of the world’s leading squash facilities and host to multiple U.S. Championships and the 2018 World Masters Championships. Neiderer has more than twenty years of experience in club management and holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Chico in public relations. James, his wife, Tara and son, Zach are sports enthusiasts and enjoy playing squash and tennis.

Located just two blocks from Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station in the historic Armory building, the Specter Center will dramatically accelerate US Squash’s progress towards its mission centered around access, community, excellence and sportsmanship. The Specter Center will feature eighteen singles courts—including two all-glass exhibition courts—and two doubles courts, serve as US Squash’s national headquarters, the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame, house a Learning & Innovation Center and offer elite athletes state-of-the-art development resources including a Coaching Excellence Center and coordination with Drexel University’s robust capabilities as a major Division I athletic program. The Specter Center will serve as a model for community engagement, operating in partnership with SquashSmarts, Philadelphia’s award-winning out-of-school squash and education program.
