Amanda Sobhy and Blatchford Clyne Enter Gaynor Cup as Top Seeds

Team USA’s Amanda Sobhy and Olivia Blatchford Clyne enter the Bahl and Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup as the one and four seeds, respectively, February 20-24, at the Cincinnati Country Club in Ohio.

The Gaynor Cup nearly doubled its prize money in the tournament’s fourth year–rising from $28,000 in 2019 to the PSA Bronze level of $51,250 this year–and attracting five of the world’s top twenty women as a result.

Sobhy, world No. 8, will make her debut in Cincinnati and is seeded to meet Egypt’s world No. 10 Hania El Hammamy in the semifinals and England’s world No. 7 Sarah-Jane Perry in the final. Sobhy will hope to bounce back from two second-round losses at the Tournament of Champions and Carol Weymuller last month.

Blatchford Clyne returns to Cincinnati for the second straight year as a top four seed. The world No. 17 will aim to improve on her 2019 performance that saw her exit in the quarterfinals against eight seed Hollie Naughton. Blatchford Clyne is seeded to meet Belgium’s seven seed Tinne Gilis in the quarterfinals and Perry in the semifinals.
