Weeks after earning two bronze medals for Team USA at the Pan American Games, Chris Hanson returns to Toronto, Canada, Wednesday as the top seed in the $5, 000 PSA Colony Ford Lincoln NSA Open at the National Squash Academy.

Last year, Hanson entered the NSA Open ranked 243 in the world, just a few months into his first year as a touring professional. In the span of one year, Hanson has risen to world No. 90 and is predicted to take home his first 5k PSA title.

In 2014, Hanson suffered a five-game, first-round loss against Seattle-based Pakistani international Shahjahan Khan, who eventually reached the final. Khan is the four seed this year and is predicted to meet Hanson in Friday’s semifinals.

Hanson must first get past Canadian Wild Card Cameron Seth Wednesday evening in the first round, and a potential second Canadian match up in the quarterfinals against six seed Mike McCue.

New York City-based Irishman Arthur Gaskin is seeded to take on Hanson in Saturday’s final.
