BIO
Sabrina Sobhy, born on December 30, 1996, in Long Island, New York, is a distinguished American professional squash player. She has achieved a career-high world ranking of World No. 13 as of September 2023. Sobhy began playing squash at the age of nine, coached by her father, and quickly rose through the ranks. By 2014, she made history by becoming the youngest player to win both the U.S. Junior and Senior National Titles in the same year. She was a member of the U.S. Junior National Team from 2011 to 2015, competing in five consecutive World Junior Championships. She has been a Women’s National team member since 2012 and has competed in five Women’s World Team Championships. In her collegiate career at Harvard University, Sobhy played as the number one player on the women's squash team for all four years, leading the team to four consecutive national titles. She was also awarded Ivy League Player of the Year in both her freshman and senior years. She was elected co-captain her senior year and led the team through an undefeated season. After graduating in 2019 with a degree in psychology, Sobhy transitioned to a full-time professional squash career by moving to Cairo, Egypt. She has since earned multiple PSA titles and represented the United States in international competitions, including winning two gold medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. After recoverying from a Hook of the Hamate surgery and a tear in her wrist in the fall of 2024, Sobhy continues to compete at the highest levels of professional squash, further solidifying her reputation as a leading figure in the sport. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA and trains at the Arlen Specter Center full time with the National team.
