Harrity Advances to Second Round of Black Ball Open in Egypt

Team USA”s Todd Harrity is through to the second round of the final PSA Platinum event of 2018–the inaugural Black Ball Squash Open–following a victory over England’s Adrian Waller Monday at the Black Ball Sporting Club in Cairo, Egypt.

Harrity, world No. 48, battled through two close opening games against Waller, wrold No. 39. Waller earned an early advantage by taking the first game 11-7.

Harrity dug in after falling behind 8-5 in the second game, coming back to win the second 11-9. Waller pulled back ahead in the second, and while up 8-5 sustained an injury that forced the Englishman to retire from the match and concede victory to Harrity.

The result marks Harrity’s second appearance in a PSA Platinum second round this season following the FS Investments U.S. Open in October.

Harrity, twenty-eight years old, will take on New Zealand’s world No. 7 and six seed Paul Coll on the all glass court Wednesday, at 3pm local time, 8am ET.

Coll won their only previous encounter at the 2017 Men’s World Team Championship in three games.
