PSA World Championships Set for Showcase in Chicago’s Union Station

2017 PSA World Champions Raneem El Welily (l) and Mohamed ElShorbagy

The world’s first million dollar squash tournament–the 2018 PSA World Championships–will be staged in Chicago’s Union Station, February 23-March 2. Tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.com.

128 of the world’s best squash players will vie for the most prestigious title in the sport–world champion. The record $1 million prize will split evenly between the sixty-four-player men’s and women’s draws.

“The PSA World Championships is the undoubted highlight of the PSA Tour calendar and we’re looking forward to an exciting week of action in Chicago next February,” said Tim Garner, Tournament Promoter. “Union Station promises to be a fitting location for the sport’s most prestigious tournament and we hope that squash fans around the world can join us as the World Championships comes to Chicago to the first time.”

Union Station will stage the all-glass show court throughout the tournament, while early round matches will also take place at the University Club of Chicago and MetroSquash.

Last year, Egypt’s Mohamed ElShorbagy and Raneem El Welily both captured the world championship titles for the first time in Manchester, England. Both players are poised to lead the world championships field as they enter 2019 with the world No. 1 rankings.

Champions from the PSA Challenger Tour have already clinched their spots at the world championships this season. The men’s draw is guaranteed to have at least one American in the form of Todd Harrity, who earned his place by winning the Madeira International Open in September.

Squash fans can also follow the tournament on Facebook, Twitter or via the official event website: www.psaworldchampionships.com
